2024-2025 ELECTED POSITIONS​​

President

Robin Mueller

The president is the presiding officer and the official representative of the association. The president presides at all meetings and plans the meeting agenda ahead of time with the PTSA secretary, utilizing input from others.

Treasurer

Report to the President, serve as an active participant on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and attend PTSA board meetings with voice and vote. Present to the General Membership at regularly scheduled and special meetings. Serve as chair of the Budget Committee and present the budget to the membership.

Recording Secretary

Lacy Lewis

Takes minutes at board and association meetings.  Co-signs formal papers with president: authorizations for payment, resolutions and formal letters.  Handles PTA correspondence as directed by the president.  Maintains and preserves PTA records and important documents to pass on at the end of the term.

Create and execute membership campaigns designed to accomplish membership goals. Enter all members into the State PTA database.

VP of Volunteers

It is the VP of Volunteers’ job to recruit the large volunteer corps that supports our PTSA programs and in conjunction with the other members of the Executive Committee Board, ensure that our volunteers receive an appropriate level of recognition and appreciation for their time & effort.

Corresponding Secretary

The Corresponding Secretary coordinates with the school’s Principal and PTSA Board for pertinent dates and information, and develops opportunities to place the school’s name, its achievements and activities before the public.  Create and Maintain PTSA website and social media.

VP of Ways & Means

Ways and Means oversees fundraising activities, including presenting proposals for fundraising projects to Executive Board, including dates, flyers, procedures for processing orders.  Coordinates and communicates with all Business Partners.

2024-2025 NON-ELECTED POSITIONS​​

8th Grade Committee Lead

Leads the 8th Grade Committee.  Is responsible for planning and throwing the dance for the 8th graders to celebrate their graduation from Walker Middle.

Safeguard the health, safety, welfare, culture, and well-being of students and families, including mental health services and support for vulnerable students.

ESE Chair

OPEN


The person holding this position should be the parent of a child in the ESE program at Walker.  Your role is to bridge the gap between the families of ESE students and the school community, to increase engagement and promote inclusion of all families by:

  • Representing the ESE parent community at PTA meetings
  • Act as a liaison between the ESE parent community, the PTA board, and the ESE Specialist
  • Meet quarterly with the ESE Specialist and collaborate on opportunities for ESE student inclusion in school events
  • Assist in the distribution of materials and information from the school and district
  • Encourage participation in parent ESE surveys to increase parent participation

Education Seminar Chair

The person holding this position promotes understanding of the purposes and needs of public schools and encourages participation by parents and community members in working towards, improvements in public education.


RESPONSIBILIES


  • Identify and gather information important to education and the community.
  • Become acquainted with the school staff, school district staff, and decision-makers/policymakers, such as members of the site council and/or school board.
  • Assist and/or accompany the PTSA president when meeting with decision-makers/policymakers regarding education.
  • Inform and educate the PTSA membership through programs, conferences and workshops, projects and newsletters and also inform parents how they can gain access to additional resources.
  • Regularly attend school board meetings, gathering information to be shared with the membership.
  • Encourage participation on school advisory groups, school site councils, or fact-finding/study committees; provide meaningful and valuable contributions.
  • Work with other schools in the school district and council/district PTSA on education issues that will affect student achievement.
